Afterschool Craft Programs Lost Arts Club provides as requested weekly after school craft programs at various schools around Nanaimo and with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Kids are welcome at any of our classes and homeschool families, we can direct bill the school agency with prior approval from the school. We charge $15/ child /week and then the PAC can possibly charge $18-$20 / child / week to raise some money for the PAC or for PAC to cover 1 or 2 registrations for those who can't afford it. The programs are usually 1 hour long and in 4 – 6 weeks blocks. The maximum class size would be 25 or depending on the space you have available. We would plan for the maximum for the first day and then if there are any last minute registrations we could accommodate. We send you an invoice after the first session and ask for full payment for the block by the 2nd week of classes. We do not have any age restrictions so it's up to you what grades you want to offer this to; we adapt the crafts based on the abilities of the participants. If there are two grade 6 or 7's who would like to help out they are welcome to do the craft for free as they are helping the younger kids we would just need to know ahead of time so we can plan to bring extra supplies. We are happy to provide this program inside or in a covered outdoor area providing you can supply tables. If you are interested in our program please contact us to set up a day of the week that works best; our calendar fills up quickly so we may need 1-2 months notice to fit this into our schedule. Job Postings Arts & Crafts Instructor (Contract Position) Location: Vancouver Island (mainly Nanaimo but some travel between Victoria and Campbell River Position Type: Contract / Casual Schedule: Flexible (days, evenings, and weekends) Lost Arts Club is seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and creative Arts & Crafts Instructor to lead engaging craft classes at venues across Vancouver Island. This Independent contractor role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people of all ages and sharing a wide variety of creative skills in a fun, inclusive environment. You will be an independent contractor and not as an employee. Nothing in the contractor agreement shall be interpreted as creating an employer–employee relationship, partnership, or joint venture. As an independent contractor you will be solely responsible for all tax filings, remittances, CPP, EI, and any other statutory obligations. Lost Arts Club will not deduct or remit taxes on behalf of the Contractor and Lost Arts Club is not responsible for WorkSafeBC coverage. A confidentiality agreement, criminal record check (at your expense), drivers license and insurance will be required. Responsibilities: Teach hands-on arts and crafts classes for children, teens, and adults Lead both small and large group sessions (approximately 8–50 participants) Set up, instruct, and clean up classes independently Transport craft supplies and materials to multiple venues Create a welcoming, supportive, and patient learning environment Represent Lost Arts Club professionally at all times Assist with class or kit preparations as needed Required Qualifications: Valid Class 5 driver’s license Reliable vehicle Automobile insurance that covers business use and transportation of craft supplies Ability to travel to teach between Victoria and Campbell River Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (required) Willingness to sign a Confidentiality Agreement and a Contractor Agreement Extremely patient and comfortable working with participants of all ages and abilities Strong knowledge of a variety of arts and crafts techniques Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends Comfortable teaching in environments with large breed dogs (our Nanaimo studio has 4 friendly labs) Preferred Qualifications: Previous instructing, teaching, or workshop facilitation experience Experience leading community classes or creative workshops Compensation: Contractor will be paid $25.00 per hour plus fuel reimbursement based on travel distance outside of Nanaimo All class materials provided If you are passionate about creativity, enjoy community engagement, and are looking for flexible, meaningful work sharing your skills, we would love to hear from you.
